X-ray Device Radiation Safety and Calibration

X-ray devices, one of the basic building blocks of medical imaging systems, provide high-accuracy imaging while requiring strict adherence to safe usage rules due to radiation emission. At this point, radiation safety and regular calibration procedures are of great importance for both the patient and healthcare personnel. An uncalibrated device may emit the wrong dose of radiation, which may pose serious health risks.

Radiation safety in X-ray devices is ensured by controlling the amount, direction, duration and environmental reflection of the beam emitted from the device. In particular, covering the area where the device is placed with lead plates, properly ventilating the room and the use of protective equipment such as lead vests by the personnel are among the basic rules of safety.

To ensure radiation safety, the device must be calibrated periodically. During the calibration process, values such as x-ray tube voltage, current, exposure time and detector sensitivity are tested. As a result of these tests, it is determined whether the device is operating at the required values. If there is a deviation, the necessary corrections are made or, if necessary, the system is renewed using x-ray spare parts.

X-ray devices can be used in the same environment with different imaging systems such as computed tomography, MRI, tomography or open MRI machines. In these cases, ensuring electromagnetic compatibility between all systems is also critical for safety. Incompatible devices can cause incorrect exposure, data loss or device failures.

In addition, software errors, image processing problems or delays in the control panel may occur due to lack of calibration of x-ray systems. These problems can cause not only the image quality but also the dose applied to the patient to be different than expected. For this reason, calibration procedures have become not only a technical but also a legal obligation in order to ensure safety.

As Anod, we ensure that your x-ray devices operate in accordance with radiation safety standards and ensure that your device remains at optimum performance with regular calibration services. Our trained technician staff performs all procedures in detail with test devices that comply with national and international standards.

Anod ensures that your x-ray systems always operate correctly and safely in order to maintain patient safety and diagnostic accuracy. We continue to support healthcare institutions with our expertise in calibration and radiation safety.
